Following significant fire damage to the school hall in 2015, the decision was made to replace the existing building with a new purpose-built facility. Reece Building Consultants were engaged to manage the project from the demolition of the damaged building through to the delivery of the new Performing Arts Centre.
The project involved many challenges including the asbestos removal from the damaged building (including the subsequent remediation of the contaminated site) and the requirement to deliver a high spec facility on a relatively restrictive budget. The result was a modern multipurpose 485 seat facility designed to meet the current and future needs of the school and wider community. The Performing Arts Centre opened in January 2019 and has become an integral part of the school’s activities hosting events such as musical productions, school assemblies and the Smokefree Rockquest.
