The High Street Cohousing Project is only the second cohousing development in New Zealand and the first to be built to the strict passive house standards. The development consists of 22 high performance units and common facilities which are to be located in the repurposed former school building. Aside from the unique building methodology required to construct the buildings to the passive house standards, the project has involved many other challenges such as the remediation of the site to achieve a suitable building platform. Work continues on the cohousing project with completion scheduled for late 2020.
